ProstaScint Scans

ProstaScint is an imaging agent that can help locate and identify previously diagnosed prostate cancer.

ProstaScint is a monocolonal antibody combined with a small amount of radioactive material.  As ProstaScint circulates through your body, it attaches to Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen which is located on prostate cancer cells.  These areas of attachment are visible to a special device called a gamma camera that can detect radiation given off by the radioactive material.  Using this technology, pictures or images will be produced showing prostate cancer.
