South Texas Cancer Foundation
The South Texas Cancer Foundation (STXCF) is a public, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established in 2001 whose mission is to provide the public with accurate cancer education, access to cancer screenings, and research to enhance the quality of life for patients and families.
To date, the Foundation’s programs have provided life-saving services to thousands of individuals. These services include:
• FREE Monthly Cancer Seminars
• FREE Annual Cancer Screenings
• Collaboration with local agencies to provide breast cancer screenings as well as education and support groups
• Research studies to improve various cancer therapies
Since 2005, the Foundation has screened about a thousand people for various cancers, including prostate, lung and colorectal. Of those screened, more than one out of six people were found to have abnormal or suspicious results. Thousands of people have benefited from our monthly cancer seminars which focus on varying topics to include breast, prostate, skin, lung, and pancreatic cancers. The purpose of the seminars is to educate the community on cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment options.
Along with community education STXCF is also committed to research. Through the Foundation, graduate students from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio are supported as they conduct research to improve patient outcomes and improve quality of life for cancer survivors.
