Treatment Options
Texas Cancer Clinic

The Texas Cancer Clinic (TCC) is a nationally recognized center of excellence for prostate Brachytherapy, and was established to perform the highest quality prostate Brachytherapy procedures available anywhere in the world. Virtually all conventional, non-surgical forms of treatment for prostate cancer are performed at TPI including 3-D conformal radiation therapy (3DCRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), permanent seed implantation (also known as low dose rate (LDR) Brachytherapy), and high dose rate (HDR) Brachytherapy.

We are the first prostate cancer facility in San Antonio to equip our operating room with three-dimensional ultrasound, CT scanning capability and fluoroscopy in order to use current methods of prostate visualization and accurate dose calculation for maximum benefit. The equipment utilized at TCC gives us the ability to target our treatment with such precision that it can be based on cellular activity within the prostate gland rather than the entire organ.

The treatment rooms used by the Texas Cancer Clinic facility were specifically designed for brachytherapy, with patient comfort in mind. Our state-of-the-art treatment rooms feature walls lined with cement, two sky lights, and a post-op/recovery room attached so a brachytherapy patient will not need to be moved during the procedure – not even for imaging.

Additionally, our rooms are outfitted with a highly sophisticated Gamma Camera to enhance visibility of the prostate during the procedure. A linear accelerator is available for external beam radiation. A flat-screen monitor and video-conferencing equipment with real-time broadcasting can be used for educational purposes. In short, everything the treatment team needs for the patient is located in one place.

We invite you to search this site to learn more about treatment options for prostate cancer and urge you to conduct as much research as possible, utilizing our staff of professionals as necessary. We hope that you will find the information needed to make a truly informed decision on your treatment options.
